My Celebrity Woman Crush

Scarlett

Reporters say it all the time,
But she's just so damn COOL

Sex appeal plus a brain,
What more could a man want

What's a comfort zone, anyway?

Scared of doing something outside your comfort zone? Scared to talk to that man or woman? Nervous about a job interview? Is the mere fear of failure stopping you? Why?

JUST DO IT. You'll kick yourself if you don't. You'll be thrilled if you do. There is nothing to lose.

Sustainability Triangle

My attempt to explain this in the most simple terms.

Have you every wondered what exactly sustainability is? It's a buzzword now days, but some people have wrong impressions of what it actually means. I'ts not just solar panels, tree hugging and recycling. Sustainability is a balance of Social, Economic and Environmental powers lasting through economic ups and downs. All three must be met for a company, idea, practice, garden, lifestyle, or ANYTHING to be "sustainable." Think about ECOLOGICAL cycles.

Follow the Lights!

Mackenzie and her Hermit Crab. I think she named him Frank?

There's something majestic about lighthouses. Maybe its the history behind them, maybe it's because they are guides to the ocean, maybe it's because they're all empty now and a sign of modernization. Either way--lighthouses are beautiful and I encourage everyone to find their own get away. This is the St. Marks Lighthouse. It's where I bring my family and friends to relax and listen to the ocean in North Florida.

This trip was special because we just so happened to be hanging out with an Alligator. He was sun bathing, so were we, no big deal.

Beats Antique

Their show on April 14th at the Engine Room was one word:

INCREDIBLE

The small atmosphere gave it an intimate feel  It was the only show I'd been looking forward to all semester--and not exaggerating--it was a smash! Producers David Satori and Tommy Cappel have talent, and this band's unique act makes it unforgettable. Every man's eyes in the room were glued to belly dancer Zoe Jakes (well, including mine). Together this trio rocks, and I cant wait to see them again!

Al Jazeera: Venezuelan government takes over farms

Published 02 April 2011
Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez is following through on a controversial plan to seize farmland in the country's agricultural heartland. Many landowners say the plan will leave prime farmland idle. But the government says the land will be used more efficiently, and workers' conditions improved. The goal is to transform farms from profit-making enterprises benefiting a few people to co-operatives that support a much broader group of Venezuelans. Al Jazeera's Craig Mauro reports from Santa Barbara.

Coal Mining

Working in the Coal-Country hills of West Virginia opened my eyes on the Coal Mining industry.  The communities are dependent on the income, but it's ruining their health, destroying the environment, and giving more money to large money-driving corporations that don't live here.
